The Cathedral School Faculty has worked during the most recent academic
year to enter its curriculum for each grade level to a web-based
organizer, Rubicon Atlas. As with any good curriculum, it is never
set in concrete. Curriculum changes as the world around us changes
and as the students' needs dictate. The academic faculty reviews
its work annually.
In addition, because the school is an Episcopal
School, its curriculum is grounded by its Humanities focus. Thematic
overviews are created for integration of Social Studies and Language
Arts. This real life focus allows students to be introduced to non-fiction
as well as fiction reading resources for authentic research at an
early elementary level. Science and math are integrated within that
humanities theme such that problem solving and research can connect
within all the learning of the unit of study. The work with each
child's capacity for learning allows for some fluctuation within
the theme of the unit of study.
Rubicon allows the staff to review each skill
introduced to assure its introduction, review and expectation for
mastery. The summary overviews posted on this website will allow
guests to view the thematic intentions of The Cathedral School.
