The
Cathedral School seeks to admit students who will thrive in the
school's learning community founded and grounded in traditions of
academic excellence and spiritual development. The Cathedral School
accepts students who, in the opinion of the school, can succeed
in the learning environment set forth.
The school's Admission Committee evaluates each
applicant to determine his or her ability to contribute to and to
work within the school's program at a level comparable to that of
the applicant's contemporaries currently enrolled. Because The Cathedral
School does value the family-feel, traditionally associated with
its program, parishioners, siblings and legacies will be considered
favorably for admission only after it has been determined that such
applicants would be successful in the school's learning environment.
The Head of School shall have final authority in the acceptance
of all applicants and in any decision regarding the placement of
an applicant into a particular grade level.
Admission to The Cathedral School is considered
probationary for up to nine (9) weeks to ensure that the school
can provide an appropriate learning environment for the student.
The Cathedral School welcomes students of all
races, colors, national or ethnic origins and economic backgrounds.
The school does not discriminate on the basis of sex, race, color,
cultural background or financial status. In order to achieve its
goal of building a diverse community, a limited sum of need-based
tuition assistance is made available to students each year. Applications
for tuition assistance will be made available upon request to parents
and guardians of accepted applicants.
Those applying for Pre-K or Kindergarten placement
should note that a child must be at least 4 years old for Pre-K
and 5 years old for Kindergarten by September 15 in the year in
which he or she plans to enter either grade.
In regard to submitting applications for students
entering first through fifth grades, please remember that The Cathedral
School admission process is an ongoing effort. The Admissions Office
will work to process these applications in a timely manner and will
place accepted applicants as space permits.
