Alumna Emma Allen won first place in the Junior Exhibits Division of the citywide National History Day competition. Students from all over Pulaski county participated. She will move on to the state competition which will be held at UCA in April. The national contest is in June in Washington, D.C.
Kelsey Brass, Cathedral alumna, has been chosen as a nominee for the Promising Young Writer Competition for 2008. The contest is sponsored by the National Council for Teachers of English. The competition is open to all eighth graders.
Alumni Erica Rogers and Rachel Garrett won the Girls Doubles 2 AAA District Tennis Tournament in Searcy on October 11. They will go on to compete in the AAA State Tournament in Harrison on October 15 and 16th.
Two members of the Episcopal Collegiate School Class of 2008 and Cathedral alumni, Catherine Demailly and Clayton Erwin, are among the rarified group of high performers nationwide on the PSAT who have been designated as National Merit Semifinalists.
By virture of their status as National Merit Semifinalists, they will compete for National Merit Scholar status and the 8,200 Merit Scholarships to be awarded in the spring.
