At The Cathedral School, we encourage parents to see their children as unlabeled seed packets. Familial traits are always in evidence, but children are so much their own persons. Childhood is honored as a deserved time of forming foundational life long healthy patterns. The job of the adults who work with, support, and nurture children is to listen to them, model expected behaviors for them, and support them as they discover who they are as individuals.
The Cathedral School faculty and staff work in partnership with parents to encourage creativity, caring and responsibility. Communication is essential. Aside from traditional newsletters, parents are empowered to successfully support their children's efforts and deal with their developmental growth issues through regularly scheduled Brown Bag seminars and parenting classes. The School sponsors a Parent Resource Library, as well, which includes audio and text parenting resources, as well as learning games for families to use together.
