All students are required to wear the uniform of The Cathedral School. The school uniform provides a sense of unity, an intentional purposeful attitude towards school, provides an additional mesasure of safety and builds a sense of tradition and pride. Some options are permitted on occasions when the required uniform is not specified.

The purpose of the Required Uniform is to allow our student body to honor special occasions and events of importance. The Required Uniform may be worn at any time but MUST be worn when specified, for example:
School picture day
All field trips unless notified by the teacher
Continuation/Graduation Ceremony
Grandparents' Day

Girls

	Plaid jumper, either split front or dropped waist (skirt must be no more than 2 inches above the knee)
	White, plain, straight sleeve blouse with Peter Pan collar, short or long-sleeved. (long sleeve blouse must touch wrist)
	Navy knee socks or tights.
	Navy, long-sleeved pullover or cardigan, plain sweater (no logos), or the navy Cathedral School sweatshirt (embroidered logo).
	Leather shoes only, no cloth. No athletic shoes or athletic style shoes. No dress shoes with athletic or hiking style soles. Must be navy, black or dark chocolate brown (no tan) Oxford, loafer or dress shoe style.

Boys

	Navy twill slacks: no logos or emblems.
	Red, short-sleeved knit shirt with collar and Cathedral School embroidered logo.
	Navy socks.
	Navy, long-sleeved pullover or cardigan plain sweater (no logos) or the navy Cathedral School sweatshirt (embroidered logo).
	Belts are required. They must be leather or leather look. Navy, brown or black.
	No athletic shoes or athletic style shoes. No dress shoes with athletic or hiking style soles. Must be navy, black or dark chocolate brown (no tan) only. Oxford, loafer or dress shoe style.

Options may be worn only on days other than the above stated Required Uniform days.

Boys & Girls

	White or red, short or long-sleeved, knit shirt with collar (with or without The Cathedral School embroidered or printed logo) No other logo (like Polo or Lacrosse) is accepted. PRINTED LOGO SHIRTS MAY BE WORN ON REGULAR UNIFORM DAYS ONLY.
	Navy uniform walking shorts, no more than 2 inches above the knee, (may be worn ONLY August 16-November 2 and March 31-May 29).
	Navy slacks may be worn by both boys and girls during cold weather months when shorts are not allowed.
	Plain white socks which cover the ankle (no lace or logos).
	If belt loops are present, belts are required (except for Pre-K students). Belts must be leather or canvas in black, brown or navy.
	Athletic shoes may be of any brand and color. Theme markings, such as characters, flowers, flames, etc., flashing lights, neon shoelaces or laces not original to the shoe are unacceptable for any uniform footwear.
	Students may wear other types of shoes as long as they are not open-toe shoes, open heel shoes, hiking boots, high tops, crocs, shoes with wheels or sandals. These shoes must also be predominantly red, white, grey, black, navy blue or a combination of those colors.

Girls

	Plaid uniform slacks.
	Plaid uniform walking shorts, no more than 2 inches above the knee (may be worn ONLY August 16-November 2 and March 31-May29).
	Flat front navy skort with 2 buttons on waistband, no more than 2 inches above the knee (may be worn ONLY August 16-November 2 and March 31-May 29).
	Navy tights (no lace or patterns)
	Jumpers may be worn at any time but must be worn only with white Peter Pan collar blouses. Jumpers are not to be worn with polo shirts.

Other

	No make-up, face paint, colored fingernail polish or excessive jewelry.
	Small hoop earrings or post earrings are acceptable.
	No artificial hair color.
	No open-toe shoes, open heel shoes, hiking boots or sandals are acceptable.
	Cargo shorts or pants cannot be used as uniform pants or shorts.
	No high-top shoes are acceptable.
	Uniform coats are not required. Hooded sweatshirts, sweatshirts and coats may advertise no other institution, organization, business or team but The Cathedral School.
	Navy jackets with an embroidered Cathedral School emblem are available at The Toggery or through Lands End.
	Students involved in Girl Scouts or Boy Scouts may wear their uniform on Scout meeting days.
	No head covering inside the building.
	Student may wear undershirts under their uniform shirt or blouse. Undershirts must be white, without writing that shows through the uniform shirt or blouse and cannot hang below the sleeve line of the uniform shirt.

Clothing for free dress day will be defined by the office (i.e. Jeans Day).

NO open-toed shoes, sandals, bike pants, spandex-clothing items, t-shirts with offensive language, boxers or tank tops are acceptable. All clothing items should be well-fitting and appropriate for occasions.

The Cathedral School Administration reserves the right to make any and all decisions regarding the uniform/appearance code and its enforcement. The decision of the administration is final.

	Boys' hair length should be above the collar, ears and eyebrows.
	Girls' hair should be appropriately groomed and out of their eyes.
	Shoes should be tied at all times.
	Shirts should be tucked in at all times.
	Belts are required with all clothing that has belt loops.
	All uniforms should fit properly and be in good repair, i.e. no tears, rips, frayed hems, no faded clothing and all Cathedral School logos should be intact.

Uniforms may be purchased at any retailer whose clothing items meet our uniform requirements. Logo items are available through The Toggery, Lands' End and School Days Discount Uniforms. Girls' plaid items are available through The Toggery and School Days Discount Uniforms. The Parents' Association also sponsors a used uniform store, set in the Develpment Office during registration and offers other purchase opportunities throughout the school year.
